INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION INSTITUTE
UNIVERSITY OF MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG
2009-2013
 

Strategic Plans/Rencana Strategis (Renstra) that have formulated by the Infokom Institute of UMM are:

 
Vision
Becoming reliable institute which is able to deliver the University of Muhammadiyah Malang as a Digital Campus (UMM Digital Campus) in order to increase its international image
 
Misions
1.    Developing information and communication technology to support good, health, independent, and good image governance system.
2.    Providing qualified information and communication services for all the academic community and external stakeholder.
3.    Introducing the University of Muhammadiyah Malang intensively to the international public through internet.
4.    Developing profit center in information and communication technology to support the university financially.
 
Objectives
1.    Increasing the institute contribution for university advancement in which it has good, health, ang good image governance.
2.    Improving the quality of information and communication technology services for internal and external stakeholders.
3.    Improving the quality of information dissemination to the international public through internet.
4.    Increasing revenue from business in ICT.
 
Targets
 Target from the first objective [1]: Increasing institute contribution to the university which has good, health, and good image governance:
  1. The functioning of integrated database system.
  2. The integrating of Managemen information System (SIM) of all work units.
  3. The functioning of ICT-based Quality Assurance System.
  4. The relization of UMM as data and information center about Muhammadiyah.
  5. The relization of international cooperation network in information and communication technology.
  6. The increasing role of UMM in nation-building in information and communication technology.
 
 Target from the second objective [2]: Improving quality of information and communication service for internal and external stakeholders:
7.      The functioning of network system which is reliable and able to serve the needs of scientific information for the entire academic community.
8.      The meeting needs of hardware and multimedia for administratative facilities and PBM activities.
9.      The achievement of ICT-based modern learning system which is qualified for students.
10.     The achievement of qualified service in academic field for students and lecturers.
11.     The improving quality of research management and scientific publication.
12.     The functioning of digital library service for the benefit of students and lecturers.
13.     The functioning of ICT-based financial management to improve service quality.
14.     The functioning of good and qualified SDM management based on ICT.
15.     The functioning of ICT-based asset management.
16.     The increasing quality of student administration service by utilizing a reliable management information system.
17.     The functioning of management information system and alumni communication forum.
18.     The functioning of data and information providing system based on the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
 
Target from the objective [3]: Improving quality of information dissemination medium of the university to the international public through internet:
19.     The realization of website which can be used as a complete information dissemination medium about UMM for the national and international public.
20.     The realization of website which is approariate with WEBOMETRIC standard to determine university ranking based on website.
21.     The increasing UMM ranking, both nationally and internationally which is assessed from website aspect (webometric).
 
Target from the objective [4]: Increasing income from ICT business:
22.     The establishment of a business unit on ICT which is able to operate well and earn benefit financially.
23.     The realization of ICT trade cooperation with the vendors of hardware and software providers.

Objective 1:
Increasing the Institute's Contribution for University Advancement which Is Good Governed, Healthy, and which Has Good Image
 
Target #1: 
The Functioning of the Integrated Database System
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.      Synchronization program and the development of database architecture of all work units as a source of data.
2.      Development program of integrated database system.
3.      Provision of hardware (servers) as database container.
4.      Organizational development of Infokom Institute through adding a new division, namely Administrator Database Division/Divisi Database Administratur (DBA).
5.      Human resource enhancement into international-licenced DNA.
 
Target #2: 
The Integrating of Management Information System/Sistem Informasi Manajamen (SIM) from All the Work Units
 
It is pursued through the following stratgies:
1.    Improving and increasing capacity and function of each Management Information System (SIM) which has been developed within the units.
2.    Developing new SIM for another supprting units which have no information system.
3.    Analysing information system for synchronization.
4.    Developing SIM integration system
5.    Applicating integrated management information system
 
 
Target #3: 
The Functioning of ICT-based Quaity Assurance System
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Improving Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) for the units which have had Standard Operational Procedure (BKMA duty).
2.    Preparing SOP for the units which have no SOP (BKMA duty).
3.    Developing SIM to support Quality Assurance System/Sistem Penjaminan Mutu (SPM) of UMM.
 
Target #4: 
The realization of UMM as a center for data and information about Muhammadiyah
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Inventorying data and information about Muhammadiyah from any sources.
2.    Documenting data and information about Muhammadiyah to the digital archieve.
3.    Developing Muhammadiyah database system.
4.    Developing information system for digital publication of Muhammadiyah.
 
Target #5: 
The realization of international cooperation network in information and communication technology
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.          Following up the cooperation result between UMM and international institutions.
2.          Establishing communication with international institutions in order to build cooperation in the field of ICT.
3.          Preparing and disseminating of bidding proposals in ICT cooperation with international institutions through various information media.
 
 
Target #6:
The increasing role of UMM in nation-building in the field of information and communication technology
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.          Conducting ICT education and training for general public.
2.          Developing application software that can be used to solve problems occur in society.
3.          Helping government activities using ICT.
 
Target #7:
The functioning of reliable network system which is able to serve the scientific information needs for the academic community
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.          Improving intranet, internet and wireless network system.
2.          Developing connection for all the work units of university, faculty, and program study programs.
3.          Adding hotspot coverage area.
4.          Adding speed of data and information access through the development of additional bandwidth and bandwidth effective management system.
5.          Developing disaster recovery to ensure network stability.  
 
Target #8:
The meeting needs of hardware and multimedia to facilitate administration and PBM activities
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.       Completing means of PBM supporting hardware and administration of all units.
2.       Improving multimedia in classes to support modern PBM.
3.       Adding multimedia classes.
 
 
 
Target #9:
The achievement of ICT-based qualified modern learning system for students
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Completing multimedia classes with internet connection. 
2.    Developing e-learning to support PBM and study process of students.
3.    Completing facilities for practical work in computer and ICT laboratories.
4.    Providing teleconference facilities needed by several study programs and other work units.
5.    Providing special portal to accomodate the scientific journal download results to be accessible for lecturers and students.
 
Target #10:
The achievement of quality on ICT services in academic field for students and lecturers
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Improving academic SIM to the needs of academic administration.
2.    Developing SIM for the implementation of registration and KRS online.
3.   Providing database and information which are appropriate with the needs of internal stakeholders (lecturers, students, study programs, faculties and work units) and internal stakeholders (Kopertis, Dikti and Dikti Council of PP Muhammadiyah).
 
Sasaran #11:
The increasing quality of ICT-based research and scientific publication management
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Providing SIM for the journal and scientific publication management that can be operated by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DP2M UMM).
2.    Providing hardware to support scientific publication.
3.    Developing scientific publication media through internet and intranet.
 
Target #12:
The functioning of digital library services for the benefit of students and lecturers
 
It is pursued through the following strategis:
1.    Providing facilities for digital library access services.
2.    Assisting UPT of Library to develop digital library SIM.
Sasaran #13:
The funtioning of ICT-based financial to improve service quality
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Developing reliable, accurate, and highly secured financial SIM.
2.    Developing SIM to create financial report in accordance with the legislation to the needs of internal and external audit (Audit Board of PP Muhammadiyah).
3.    Improving status of finacial audit conducted by external party.
 
Target #14:
The functioning of good and qualified ICT-based human resource management
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Developing human resources data recording system according to the needs of the institution.
2.    Developing SIM to manage human resource which can be used as a basis for decision-making of the leaders.
 
 
Target #15:
The functioning of ICT-based asset management
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.    Developing institutional asset data recording system.
2.    Developing SIM of asset management for easy asset management.
 
Target #16:
The increasing quality of student administration service by utilizing management information system
 
It is pursued through the following strategies:
1.     Developing student database recording system in sync with other unit.
2.     Developing a complete and accessible student record.
3.     Developing SIM to manage students.
 
Target #17:
The functioning of management information system and alumni communication forum
 
1.     Developing alumni database recording system.
2.     Developing SIM to manage alumni.
3.     Developing interactive and informative alumni forum
 
Target #18:
The functioning of the system in providing data and information based on the internal and external stakeholders
 
1.     Developing integrated database system
2.     Providing output of data in accordance with the requirements of accreditation form of study program and institution, as well as the need for preparing proposals required by all units.
 
Target #19:
The realization of a complete website, thereby increasing the UMM rank on Webometric
1.     Improving the UMM website (www.umm.ac.id) which is complete, informative and interactive as Webometric assessment criteria for university ranking worldwide.
2.     Completing multi language website (Bahasa Indonesia, English and Arabic).
3.     Facilitating other units to develop mebsite according to university standards.
4.     Facilitating other units to disseminate research results through the university website.
 
Target #21:
The establishment of an ICT business unit that is able to operate well and financially profitable
 
1.     Developing a IT business unit in cooperation with other parties.
2.     Developing internal and external internet cafes.
3.     Developing a utilization system of the internet, intranet and hotspot connections at night for the entire academic community.
4.     Developing program installation service for internal and external purposes.
5.     Providing service on making program application for external parties.
 
Target #22:
The Realization of Internet-based Telecommunication Services
1.    Developing inter-campus communication through VOIP.
2.    Developing SMS Gateway for the benefit of the units.
3.    Developing telecommunication through excellent quality teleconference as required by all the works units.
4.    Developing UMM FM radio streaming to be accesses through internet connection.
5.  Facilitating the realization of UMM TV Cable for the benefit of direct broadcasting of UMM events.
